Apple Tests Major Siri Upgrade with Internal Chatbot ’Veritas’
Apple has developed an internal chatbot application called Veritas to evaluate a significant overhaul of its Siri voice assistant. The tool, built by Apple's AI division, allows engineers to simulate user interactions with Siri's upgraded capabilities—including handling private data like emails and photos—without waiting for full operating system releases.
The Veritas system runs on a new backend infrastructure dubbed Linwood, which incorporates Apple's proprietary large language model alongside third-party technology. Initial testing revealed performance gaps, forcing a delay from the originally planned spring 2024 launch to early 2025. The setback reportedly triggered leadership changes within Apple's AI team.
